“The ‘Nude’ genre is uncharacteristic of our culture. Our patriarchal world perceives this concept as a provocation. But the models in Vili Todorova’s photographs are so vital that they harmonize with the mise-en-scène without being obtrusive. At the same time, they are vividly present and take us back to Antiquity, turning photographed naked bodies into true-to-life statues. The images of “13 Breaths” series are electrifyingly intense, the texts to them might be prose, but with a gentle touch of poetry. Each photograph has dozens of interpretations, and everyone is urged to find what, like a pebble in one’s shoe, bothers and encourages one’s thoughts come to light. And in fact, this is the most valuable part of communication with art, the opportunity to share the feelings of an artist, and if they can provoke emotions and inspire the creation of more art, then they have reached their goal.”
